Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Hire a Videographer

Do you really need a videographer at your wedding? You already have a photographer, and they are going to be capturing things throughout the day, so a videographer isn’t really necessary, right?

Not exactly. The number one regret we hear from brides is that they didn’t have a videographer. A survey done in 2006 found that 75% of newlyweds wished they’d had a videographer at their wedding. You don’t realize how much you’ll miss or forget about your wedding that would be captured in the wedding video. So let’s debunk some myths you might have heard about having a videographer at your wedding:

Myth #1: Videographers are too expensive.

Budget is a major determining factor in what you can and cannot do at your wedding. But it boils down to how you handle your budget, not how big your budget is. We’ve made a budget breakdown to fit everything you want at your wedding in any budget. You can check it out here!

You can also check with your videographer about creating a payment plan. We have several payment plan options for our clients.

Myth #2: Everyone has a phone. Someone can just record my wedding for me.

Having a family member or friend record your ceremony on their phone is definitely an option, but comes with sacrifices. The biggest sacrifice is quality. A videographer comes with experience and high quality equipment to capture your wedding. After capturing a wedding, we put together a beautiful story of your wedding day in a highlight reel for you to keep. A well-produced wedding video requires editing skills and the proper software.

Myth #3: I’m too awkward to be filmed.

I completely understand how you feel. There is a reason we are behind the camera and not in front of it! Our job as videographers is to help you feel comfortable and be yourself. We will joke around with you, coach you, and make sure you are enjoying the process. As experienced videographers, we know how to be discreet and capture the moments of you interacting with your guests without feeling the pressure of a camera right in front of you.

Myth #4: I’m never going to watch my video.

You’ll be surprised at how often you will watch your wedding video. Revisiting that day and the sweet moments you had is so special, and you’ll notice things that you’ve forgotten or weren’t captured in the photos. One of our favorite package add-ons is the Motion Book. A Motion Book is a linen-bound book that opens to a screen that plays your wedding video. It has built in audio and a customizable cover. With the Motion Book, you can take your wedding video with you wherever you go and show it off!

While videography is not a must at your wedding, it is a truly valuable service that gives you content to look back on. Your wedding highlight video will include not just sweet moments throughout the day, but also your vows, speeches, toasts, and sweet words from your guests that you can keep for a lifetime. If you want to talk more about videography or payment plan options, send us a message!
